How do you ensure your food is safe?Updated 10 days ago
We ensure the safety and quality of our food through rigorous controls at every step of the process. All of our meats are sourced from USDA-inspected suppliers that meet strict quality and safety standards. For poultry, we work with suppliers enrolled in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), which requires routine testing to confirm flocks are disease-free, including screening related to avian influenza prior to harvesting.
Our meals are produced in a licensed, FDA-registered pet food facility operating under a detailed HACCP plan and SQF Level 3 certification—the highest global food safety and quality standard. While this facility is dedicated exclusively to pet food, it upholds the same sanitation, handling, and traceability standards used throughout the human food supply. We also use High-Pressure Processing (HPP), a cold-pressure technology that neutralizes pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli while preserving nutritional integrity. HPP has been shown to be effective against enveloped viruses, including avian influenza.
To maintain these standards, we perform routine quality checks and comprehensive sanitation procedures. At home, we recommend standard safe food-handling practices: wash hands before and after feeding, clean bowls and surfaces after each meal, and discard thawed food after 48 hours.
